UPSC Declares Civil Services Examination 2025 Final Results; 958 Candidates Recommended for Appointment

The Union Public Service Commission has announced the final results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025, recommending 958 candidates for appointment to some of the most prestigious services of the Government of India. The results are based on the written examination conducted in August 2025 and the Personality Test (interview) held between December 2025 and February 2026.
The Civil Services Examination is among India’s most competitive recruitment processes and is conducted annually by the UPSC to select officers for key administrative roles. Successful candidates will be appointed to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and various Central Services in Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ categories.
According to the official notification, the candidates have been recommended strictly in order of merit and their final service allocation will depend on vacancies, category reservations, and service preferences indicated during the examination process.
Category-wise Distribution of Recommended Candidates
Out of the 958 recommended candidates, the category-wise distribution reflects the reservation policy followed by the Government of India. The breakup is as follows:

The UPSC clarified that final appointments will be made according to the number of vacancies available and in accordance with the rules governing the Civil Services Examination.
Reserve List and Extended List
In line with Rule 20 (4) and Rule 20 (5) of the Civil Services Examination Rules 2025, the commission has also prepared a Consolidated Reserve List of candidates. This list is used to fill vacancies that may arise later due to non-joining or other administrative reasons.

Provisional Candidatures and Withheld Results
The commission stated that the candidature of 348 recommended candidates has been kept provisional, pending verification of documents and eligibility conditions. These include verification of reservation claims under EWS, OBC, SC, ST, and PwBD categories by the concerned authorities.
Meanwhile, the results of two candidates have been withheld due to administrative reasons.

The merit list begins with Anuj Agnihotri, who secured All India Rank 1 in the Civil Services Examination 2025. The second position was secured by Rajeshwari Suve M, while Akansh Dhull secured the third rank.

The UPSC has informed that the marks of candidates will be uploaded on its official website within 15 days from the declaration of the final result. Candidates seeking clarification or information regarding the examination process may contact the UPSC Facilitation Counter located at the commission’s campus in New Delhi.
The commission has also provided contact numbers for candidate assistance during working hours from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
