“THE ENTIRE NATION THANKED DOCTORS, NURSES, SANITATION WORKERS AND MEMBERS OF THE MEDIA FOR THEIR SELFLESS SERVICE.”: LOK SABHA SPEAKER/

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, before adjourning the House sine die today, observed that the successful observance of the Janta Curfew by the people on 22 March 2020 at the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a memorable event. He said that on this occasion, rising above religion and community, all Indians stood together. He was happy to note that what was witnessed at 5 pm on 22 March was the very soul of India and that the nation was together in its fight against COVID 19.

Shri Birla observed that, “The entire nation thanked doctors, nurses, sanitation workers and members of the media for their selfless service.” Thanking his fellow Members of Parliament, Birla said that all Members of Lok Sabha, including Leaders of the Opposition along with the President and Vice President expressed their gratitude towards health workers by way of applause.

At the request of Shri Birla, all Members of the Lok Sabha, present in the House, belonging to all political parties, gave a standing ovation to the emergency workers in order to express their gratitude and appreciation.

Birla also said that, “The entire House is united in the fight against COVID 19.” He added that in this moment of crisis, Members of Parliament should create awareness among the people in their respective constituencies and extend all help to the District administrations in containing this disease. Birla also advised the Members to follow social distancing and also to follow all directions given by the administration. He appealed to the people to not believe rumours and to prevent the spread of negativity.
