Stranded Passengers: Special Trains Introduced Between Puri and Howrah
Puri, June 4, 2023: As train services continue to be disrupted in the Bhadrak-Kharagpur Railway Section of the Howrah-Chennai Main Line following the recent derailment, authorities have taken measures to assist stranded passengers. With numerous cancellations impacting travel from Puri to Howrah, the East Coast Railway has announced the operation of three special trains between the two destinations.
The first special train, numbered 02801 Puri Howrah Special, will depart from Puri at 1900hrs (07:00 p.m.) and will traverse the Jakhapura-Kendujhargarh-Dongoaposi-Kharagpur route. This train will make scheduled stops at Sakhigopal, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jakhapura, Harichandanpur, Keonjhargarh, Dongoaposi, Tata, and Kharagpur. It comprises of Two Sleeper Class, Six Second Class Chair Car, and Two Guard cum Second Class Seating Coaches.
The second special train, identified as 02803 Puri Howrah Special, will depart from Puri at 2100hrs (09:00 p.m.) and will follow the Cuttack-Angul-Sambalpur City-Jharsuguda route. Passengers on this train can expect stops at Sakhigopal, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Rairakhol, Sambalpur City, Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Chakradharpur, Tata, and Kharagpur. It comprises of 11 Second Class Seating, Two AC Chair Car, Two Chair Car, and Two Guard cum Second Class Seating Coaches.
The third special train, known as 02805 Puri Howrah Special, is scheduled to depart from Puri at 2200hrs (10:00 p.m.) and will follow the Jakhapura-Kendujhargarh-Dongoaposi-Kharagpur route. It will make stops at Sakhigopal, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jakhapura, Harichandanpur, Keonjhargarh, Dongoaposi, Tata, and Kharagpur. This train consists of Two MEMU Motor Car and Six MEMU Coaches.
The introduction of these special trains aims to alleviate the inconvenience faced by stranded passengers and facilitate their journey from Puri to Howrah.
