Special Ticket Checking Campaign Conducted Across Five Zones by East Central Railway
11,500 Passengers Apprehended in a Single Day, Collecting Fines Worth 8.5 Million Rupees
East Central Railway (ECR) conducted a special ticket checking campaign today, on May 28, 2024, simultaneously across five zones including Danapur, Sonpur, Samastipur, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, and Dhanbad. This inspection campaign involved deployment of railway officials, supervisors, railway staff, ticket inspectors, and a large number of Railway Protection Force personnel at key stations of the East Central Railway such as Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction, Patna, Ara, Buxar, Mokama, Sasaram, Dhanbad, Gomo, Koderma, Dalton Ganj, Hajipur, Muzaffarpur, Barauni, Khagaria, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Raxaul, Bettiah, Saharsa, Dilwa, and Hazaribagh Road.
Special inspections were carried out on all important Mail/Express trains such as the 15715 Kishanganj-Ajmer Garib Nawaz Express, 18019 Jhargram-Dhanbad Express, 12391 Rajgir-New Delhi Shramjeevi Express, 15909 Avadh Assam Express, 12382 New Delhi-Howrah Express, 12802 Magadh Express, and 02570 New Delhi-Darbhanga Clone Express. Unauthorized travelers were apprehended in the pantry car of train number 12554 New Delhi-Barauni Vaishali Express.
Additionally, special ticket checks were conducted on all passenger and MEMU trains, resulting in the apprehension of ticketless travelers. This special ticket checking campaign continued throughout the day, leading to the apprehension of 11,500 ticketless/irregular travelers and the collection of fines totaling 8.5 million rupees.
It is noted that continuous ticket inspections are being carried out across the five zones of East Central Railway to curb ticketless or unauthorized travel, and this initiative will continue in the future as well.
