Severe Cyclone “Michaung” Makes Landfall on South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Unleashing Intense Winds and Heavy Rainfall

The India Meteorological Department reports that the severe cyclonic storm “Michaung” has moved northwards, completing its landfall process over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh. As of 1530 hours IST on December 5, 2023, the storm is centered near latitude 15.85°N and longitude 80.3°E, approximately 20 km west-southwest of Bapatla and 45 km north-northeast of Ongole.

Current Intensity: Cyclonic Storm with Wind Speed of 80-90 KMPH, Gusting to 100 KMPH.

Forecast: The system is expected to continue its northward movement, maintaining cyclonic storm intensity over the next 6 hours.
