RRTS Trains to Be Known as ‘Namo Bharat’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the primary section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS (Regional Rapid Transit System) corridor on October 20. The RRTS trains will be referred to as ‘Namo Bharat.’

India’s First Regional Rail Rapid Transit System

The RRTS is India’s inaugural Regional Rail, known as RAPIDX, and stands as a unique transit system designed for regional commutes. The system’s first corridor spans 82 kilometers and is currently under construction, connecting Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut.

Priority Section Launch

The Priority Section, covering a 17-kilometer stretch between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot, will commence passenger operations from October 21, 2023, following the inaugural event. This section encompasses five stations: Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot.

Features of RAPIDX Trains

The RAPIDX trains are fully air-conditioned and boast several commuter-centric features to ensure a safe and comfortable regional commute. These features include ergonomically designed 2×2 transverse seating, spacious standing areas, luggage racks, CCTV cameras, laptop and mobile charging facilities, dynamic route maps, auto-controlled ambient lighting systems, a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning System (HVAC), and various other amenities.

Operating Hours

The RAPIDX trains will operate from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm. The first train in both directions will commence operations at 6:00 am, while the last train departing from stations in both directions will be at 11:00 pm.

The introduction of ‘Namo Bharat’ RRTS trains and the launch of the Priority Section mark a significant step towards modernizing India’s regional transit system, providing a more efficient and convenient commuting experience for residents and visitors alike.
