RPF’s Special Drive Yields Results: 311 Individuals Prosecuted for Violations

In a concerted effort to uphold railway safety, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Mumbai Division executed a special drive in collaboration with the night court on the night of November 29, 2023. The operation spanned multiple stations including Kalyan, Titwala, Badlapur, Panvel, Thane, Mumbra, Diva, and Dombivali.

Here are the key outcomes of the drive:

  1. Unauthorized Entry Prosecutions:
    • A total of 197 individuals were booked under Section 155 of the Indian Railway Act for unauthorized entry into reserved compartments.
  2. Trespassing Offenses:
    • Ninety-nine individuals faced legal action for trespassing inside railway premises, charged under Section 147.
  3. Hawking and Begging Violations:
    • Thirteen individuals were booked for hawking and begging inside railway premises under Section 144.
  4. Disobedience of the Law:
    • One person faced legal consequences for disobedience of the law, as per Section 159.
  5. Nuisance and Drinking Offense:
    • Another individual was booked for creating nuisance and drinking inside railway premises under Section 145.
  6. Legal Proceedings:
    • A comprehensive total of 311 individuals faced prosecution in the Night Court of the Hon’ble Sectional Railway Magistrate in Kalyan. The proceedings were conducted through video conferencing.
  7. Imposed Fines:
    • A sum of Rs. 46,950/- in fines was imposed collectively as part of the legal actions taken during the special drive.

These stringent measures undertaken by the RPF aim to discourage passengers from violating rules, particularly during peak hours. The objective is to enhance overall safety within the railway system, ensuring a secure and orderly travel environment for all commuters.
