RPF Arrests 3 Men and 1 Woman from Bangladesh at Dharmanagar Railway Station

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) in coordination with the 97th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals, including three men and one woman, at Dharmanagar Railway Station on November 21, 2024. The individuals were found aboard Train No. 14619, the Tripura Sundari Express, during a routine security check.

The arrested suspects were identified as:

  1. Fazar Ali (60 years), son of Osman Ali
  2. Hanifa (30 years), son of Md Fazar Ali
  3. Md. Rabbi (18 years), son of Khalil Hawaladar
  4. Alha Begum (50 years), wife of Fazar Ali

All four individuals are residents of Bangladesh.

During interrogation, the suspects revealed that they had illegally crossed the India-Bangladesh border through Sonamura in the Sepahijala district of Tripura. They claimed to have paid Rs. 5,000 each to an unknown Indian tout who facilitated their border crossing. The group was reportedly en route to Delhi in search of labor work.

Following standard legal procedures, the suspects were taken into custody by SI Surendra Thakur of BSF 97 BN, Shipinjuri, for further investigation and legal action.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding illegal immigration and cross-border trafficking in the region.
