Revolutionizing Railway Connectivity: Mumbai Division’s Kalyan-Kasara New 3rd Line Project Hits Milestone
With 50% Physical Progress, ₹792.89 Cr. Investment, and Strategic Infrastructure Developments
In a significant development for the Mumbai Division, the Kalyan-Kasara New 3rd line project is progressing steadily, with an overall physical progress of 50%. The project, with a total length of 67.35 km, comes at a cost of ₹792.89 Cr., with ₹641.33 Cr. expended to date.
Key details of the project include:
- Land acquisition completion: 73.04% (35.96/49.23 Hectare)
- Earthwork progress: 38% (9.11/24.04 Lcum)
- Blanketing: 2.26 Lcum in progress
- Major Bridge: 5 in progress out of 8
- Minor Bridge/RUB: 11% (23/203)
- Road over bridge (ROB): 2 in progress
- Station Building: 9% (3/35)
- Overhead Equipment (OHE) Foundations: 15% (200/1400)
- OHE Mast Erections: 14% (170/1200)
Upon completion, this new 3rd line will alleviate congestion on the busy Kalyan-Kasara Suburban and mail express route, enhancing overall train mobility.
Furthermore, Central Railway has marked significant progress across its five divisions, completing 161.80 km of multitracking (new line/doubling/3rd/4th line) in the current fiscal year from April 2023. With a planned budget of ₹3890 Cr., the expenditure to date stands at ₹2990 Cr., reflecting the railway’s commitment to expanding and modernizing its infrastructure.
