Record-breaking Ticketless Passenger Crackdown at Kalyan Station Nets ₹16.85 Lakh in Fines
Mumbai, October 17, 2023: In an extraordinary display of vigilance, the Mumbai Division of Central Railways conducted a massive ticket checking operation at Kalyan Station on Monday, October 16, 2023, resulting in an astounding ₹16.85 lakh in fines imposed on 4,438 ticketless passengers in a single day.
This extensive operation, which lasted from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, witnessed the deployment of 167 Ticket Checking Examiners (TTE) and 35 Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel to ensure strict compliance with ticketing regulations. Their combined efforts led to the apprehension of a staggering 4,438 passengers who were found traveling without valid tickets, costing them a collective penalty of ₹16.85 lakhs.
On average, each TTE managed to apprehend 27 ticketless passengers during the operation, with individual TTEs imposing an average penalty of ₹10,095. This event serves as a stark reminder to all commuters to travel with respect for the rules and obtain valid tickets before embarking on their journeys.
