Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Embarks on Train Journey, Unveils Transformative Vision for Odisha’s Railway Development
In a significant move to connect with passengers and gauge the progress of railway development in Odisha, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw embarked on a journey from Bhubaneswar to Balasore. During his interaction with passengers and media onboard, Minister Vaishnaw shared Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious vision for the state’s railway infrastructure.

- Commitment to Development: Minister Vaishnaw reiterated Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to accelerating the development of Odisha’s railway sector. He highlighted the visible changes witnessed over the past decade since the BJP assumed power at the Centre.
- Increased Investment: Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, Odisha has experienced a significant surge in railway investment. Previously receiving around ₹800 crore annually, the state now benefits from over ₹10,000 crore per year, reflecting a substantial increase in funding for railway development projects.
- Progress on Projects: Minister Vaishnaw highlighted the remarkable progress of the Khordha-Bolangir railway project, with an investment of ₹50,773 crore currently underway in Odisha. Sections of the railway line, including Khordha to Daspalla and Bolangir to Sonepur, have already commenced operations.
- World-Class Stations: The government’s focus on infrastructure development extends to upgrading 52 stations in Odisha to world-class standards. Progress on 48 stations is well underway, reflecting the administration’s commitment to enhancing passenger experience and facilities.
