Railway Infrastructure Expansion Underway: Karjat Witnesses Significant Progress
Karjat, a vital junction in the railway network, is undergoing a transformative phase with the extension of yard lines and the addition of a fourth line between Karjat and Palasdhari. The project, amounting to ₹74.53 Crores, has achieved an overall physical progress of 60%.
The scope of work encompasses multiple facets to enhance operational efficiency:
- Increase in length of EMU stabling lines (No. 1, 2 & 3).
- Augmentation of Reception and Dispatch lines (No. 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6).
- Introduction of a new Reception and Dispatch line (No. 7).
- Segregation of the Karjat-Khopoli line from the Khopoli-Lonavala main line.
- Provision of a Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at both the Kalyan and Lonavala ends.
- Implementation of the fourth line between Karjat and Palasdhari.
Completed works showcase significant milestones:
- Extension of eight minor bridges.
- Awarding of contracts for earthwork.
- Successful completion of ballast supply.
- Conclusion of earthwork for Reception and Dispatch lines.
- Completion of work on stabling siding no. 3.
- Successful relocation of two stabling lines.
- Commissioning of the Foot Over Bridge at the Lonavala end.
- Completion of indoor wiring, with 80% completion of outdoor wiring.
Work currently in progress includes:
- Ongoing construction of the Foot Over Bridge at the CSMT end.
- Earthwork for Reception and Dispatch line no. 7.
- Track work on the Palasdhari line.
- Final stages of completion for siding no. 1.
- Testing of signaling wiring in progress.
Upon completion, this extensive project is poised to enhance the fluidity of train movements in the Karjat yard and the Lonavala-Palasdhari Karjat Section.
