Railway Board Cancels Pending Departmental Selections Amid Irregularities

In a major decision aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability, the Railway Board has announced the cancellation of all pending departmental selections, including LDCEs and GDCEs (within Group ‘C’), that have not been finalized and approved by March 4, 2025. The move comes in response to multiple irregularities observed in recent selection processes.

In an official communication, the Railway Board has directed that no new selections will be initiated until further orders, as the framework for departmental selections is being revisited. Further guidelines to regulate the selection process will be issued in due course.

This directive, issued by Rajeev Ranjan, Joint Director Estt.(N), Railway Board, has been circulated to all Zonal Railways and Production Units, along with key railway staff associations, including AIRF, NFIR, FROA, IRPOF, and various officers’ and employees’ associations.

The decision underscores the Railway Board’s commitment to reforming selection procedures, enhancing transparency, and preventing irregularities in recruitment and promotions within the railway workforce.

Further instructions on the revised selection framework are expected soon, ensuring a fair and efficient selection process moving forward.
