RailTel Establishes Center of Excellence for Railway Signaling and Telecommunications Training

RailTel Corporation of India Ltd., a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, has taken a significant step to ensure the availability of competent and skilled manpower in the field of Railway Signaling. The company recently inaugurated a Center of Excellence (CoE) for Railway Signaling and Telecommunications Training. Sh. Sanjai Kumar, CMD/RailTel, led the inauguration ceremony, joined by Director/Fin, Director/POM, Director/NPM, and other senior RailTel officials.

The newly established CoE will offer a range of certification and diploma courses in collaboration with esteemed institutions, including IITs and IIMs. These courses will cover fundamental concepts of Kavach, advanced designing of Kavach’s Station RFID network, Onboard equipment, and Cyber Security. Moreover, the CoE will serve as the assessment agency for the globally recognized competency certification of IRSE License, serving both seasoned railway professionals and young engineers. This includes workplace assessments and competency evaluations for the IRSE license.

The Center of Excellence will play a pivotal role in Research and Development within the realm of Railway Signaling and Telecommunications. It will collaborate with leading institutions in India and abroad to drive innovation in the field.

Rail Edutech Private Limited, an AICTE-approved entity for providing comprehensive railway training, is the resource partner for the CoE.

Sh. Sanjai Kumar, CMD/RailTel, highlighted the importance of safety in train operations, emphasizing that railway signaling plays a critical role in ensuring safe train operations. With the ongoing digital transformation of Indian Railways and the adoption of modern Train Control and Command Signaling and Telecom systems across the country’s rail network, the establishment of this Center of Excellence reaffirms RailTel’s commitment to advancing safety and innovation in the railway industry. Through cutting-edge training and research initiatives, the CoE will contribute significantly to shaping the future of railway operations in India.
