Prime Minister Modi Joins Golden Jubilee Celebration of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation in Ahmedabad
Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad today. The event marked the culmination of 50 years of the federation’s remarkable journey, symbolizing the resilience of cooperatives and the unwavering determination of farmers, which have propelled Amul to become one of the strongest dairy brands globally.
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi extended his congratulations on the momentous occasion and lauded the transformative impact of the federation, emphasizing its significant contribution to the dairy sector’s growth. He acknowledged the pivotal role played by ‘Pashu Dhan’ (livestock) in the white revolution and commended Amul for epitomizing the strength of Indian dairy farmers.
Highlighting the significance of Amul as a beacon of self-reliant India, Prime Minister Modi underscored its role in empowering farmers and driving technological advancements in the sector. He praised Amul’s global outreach, mentioning its presence in over 50 countries and its extensive network of milk cooperative committees and farmers.
Prime Minister Modi emphasized the central role of women in the dairy sector, noting that nearly 70% of the turnover in the sector is led by women. He highlighted the government’s initiatives, such as Mudra Yojana and PM Awas Yojana, aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs and enhancing their economic participation.
Further, Prime Minister Modi outlined the government’s comprehensive strategy for rural development, focusing on initiatives to bolster agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries. He emphasized the importance of cooperative societies in driving economic growth and announced the establishment of a separate Ministry of Cooperation to support their expansion.
