Prime Minister Modi Holds Bilateral Talks with Mauritian Counterpart at G20 Summit
New Delhi, India – In a diplomatic engagement on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, the Prime Minister of Mauritius, on September 8, 2023. Prime Minister Jugnauth expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for extending a special invitation to Mauritius to participate in the G20 Summit as a ‘Guest Country.’ He also commended Mauritius’ active involvement in various Working Groups and Ministerial Meetings within the G20 framework, reflecting the country’s commitment to the summit under India’s presidency.
The meeting occurred in the backdrop of the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Mauritius. Both leaders celebrated the robust and multi-faceted bilateral cooperation that has evolved over the years. Notably, they acknowledged the recent acceleration of bilateral interactions, with more than 30 delegation visits and the signing of 23 bilateral agreements in the past year.
Prime Minister Jugnauth took a moment to congratulate Prime Minister Modi on the successful Chandrayaan-3 Mission, demonstrating India’s prowess in space exploration. He expressed optimism about the future prospects of collaboration in the space sector between the two nations.
