Prime Minister Assesses Cyclone “Remal” Impact
In an urgent meeting held at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi, Prime Minister addressed the devastating aftermath of cyclone “Remal” that has wreaked havoc across several states.
During the high-level briefing, the Prime Minister was apprised of the extensive damage inflicted by the cyclone in Mizoram, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura. Reports highlighted loss of lives, destruction of homes, and widespread property damage due to landslides and floods.
Responding promptly, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams were swiftly deployed to affected regions, executing critical operations including evacuation, airlifting, and road clearance.
Emphasizing the government’s unwavering support, the Prime Minister assured continued assistance to the affected states. Additionally, he directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to closely monitor the situation and provide necessary aid for restoration efforts.
The crucial meeting saw the presence of key officials including the Principal Secretary to the PM, Cabinet Secretary, Home Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences Secretary, DG NDRF, and Member Secretary, NDMA, alongside senior officials from the PMO and relevant ministries.
