President of India Observes Ceremonial Change-Over of Army Guard Battalion

Today, the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, witnessed the ceremonial change-over of the Army Guard Battalion stationed at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The historic event marked the transition as the 6th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment completed its tenure as the Ceremonial Army Guard Battalion and handed over the charge to the 1st Battalion of the 5th Gorkha Rifles.

During the ceremony, President Murmu delivered brief remarks, commending the officers and soldiers of the 6th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment for upholding the highest standards of military traditions and exhibiting unwavering dedication in their duties at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She extended a warm welcome to the 1st Battalion of the 5th Gorkha Rifles, expressing confidence in their ability to uphold the distinguished legacy of 166 years and set new benchmarks during their tenure at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The rotational system ensures that different infantry units of the Army serve as the Ceremonial Army Guard in Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Army Guard Battalion fulfills ceremonial duties at various prestigious events, including Guard of Honours for dignitaries, Republic Day Parade, Independence Day Parade, and the Beating the Retreat Ceremony, in addition to ceremonial guard duties at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The ceremonial change-over signifies the seamless transition of responsibilities and underscores the military’s commitment to upholding tradition and excellence in service to the nation.
