President Murmu Inspires 2021 Batch IAS Officers to Forge a Path to Inclusive and Developed India
New Delhi, September 25, 2023 – A distinguished group comprising 182 IAS officers from the 2021 batch, currently holding positions as Assistant Secretaries across various Union Ministries and Departments, convened today at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre to meet with President Droupadi Murmu.
In a stirring address to the assembled officers, President Murmu underscored the unique nature of their service, characterizing it as more than a mere profession; rather, it is a solemn mission. She emphasized their collective responsibility to propel India and its citizens forward through the principles of good governance, asserting that their destiny is intertwined with the service of the nation. Central to their mission, she declared, is the aspiration to craft an inclusive and developed India, and she urged the officers to play a pivotal role in enabling the country’s youth to realize their potential in diverse domains. Furthermore, she highlighted the significant opportunity they possess to contribute to the vision of a developed India by 2047, urging them to become dynamic agents of change through their unwavering commitment and innovative thinking.
President Murmu stressed the importance of compassion in the role of a civil servant, describing a true civil servant as one whose heart beats for the welfare of the underprivileged and marginalized sections of society. She called upon the officers to consider uplifting these marginalized communities as a fundamental tenet of their work. She encouraged them to bridge the gap between administrative processes and their real-world impact, emphasizing the significance of understanding the link between “file to field” and “field to file.” This heightened people-centric awareness and sensitivity, she noted, would enable them to engage with bureaucratic processes in a more profound and meaningful manner.
President Murmu’s address resonated with the IAS officers, who left the meeting inspired and reinvigorated to undertake their mission of steering India towards a brighter, more inclusive, and developed future.
