PM Narendra Modi’s Two-Day Visit to Surat and Varanasi Packed with Major Development Initiatives

Varanasi to Witness the Inauguration of Development Projects Valued at Over Rs. 19,150 Crores

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant two-day tour to Surat and Varanasi on December 17-18. The visit will include the inauguration and foundation stone laying for multiple development projects in Varanasi, collectively valued at over Rs. 19,150 crores.

Surat Welcomes PM Modi’s Unveiling of Key Infrastructure and Landmarks

Starting the tour in Surat, PM Modi will inaugurate the New Integrated Terminal Building at Surat Airport at 10:45 AM on December 17. Shortly after, at 11:15 AM, he will inaugurate the Surat Diamond Bourse, set to be the world’s largest center for international diamond and jewelry business.

  • 3:30 PM: PM Modi to participate in Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in Varanasi.
  • 5:15 PM: Inauguration of Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2023 at Namo Ghat.

  • 10:45 AM: PM Modi to visit and inaugurate Swarved Mahamandir.
  • 1:00 PM: Participation in Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra.
  • 2:15 PM: Inauguration and foundation stone laying of development projects valued at over Rs. 19,150 crores.

Surat Highlights:

PM Modi’s visit to Surat will include the inauguration of the New Integrated Terminal Building at Surat Airport, designed to handle 1200 domestic and 600 international passengers during peak hours. The airport aims to enhance the passenger experience with its cultural and heritage-themed design, meeting GRIHA IV compliance standards.

Additionally, the inauguration of the Surat Diamond Bourse, a global center for diamond and jewelry trading, is expected to further boost international trade and commerce.

Varanasi Highlights:

In Varanasi, PM Modi will join the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra and inaugurate the Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2023, promoting the vision of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.’ The Prime Minister will also flag off the Kanyakumari-Varanasi Tamil Sangamam train.

The tour will witness the inauguration of the Swarved Mahamandir, a significant spiritual center. PM Modi will also participate in Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in Sewapuri and interact with participants of Kashi Sansad Khel Pratiyogita 2023.

Development Projects:

PM Modi will dedicate and lay the foundation stone for various development projects, including the Varanasi-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Nagar-New Bhaupur Dedicated Freight Corridor Project, and the Dohrighat-Mau MEMU train. He will also inaugurate a green-field road, two railway overbridges, and other infrastructure projects aimed at transforming Varanasi’s landscape.

Unified Tourist Pass System:

In a move to enhance tourist experiences, PM Modi will launch the Unified Tourist Pass System, streamlining ticket bookings for key attractions, including Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Ganga Cruise, and Sarnath’s light and sound show under the Smart City Mission.

Foundation Stone Laying:

PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for projects worth more than Rs. 6500 crores, covering sectors such as renewable energy, petroleum supply chain, road widening, rural drinking water schemes, and healthcare infrastructure, among others. The projects aim to strengthen Varanasi’s position as a hub for economic growth and cultural heritage.
