PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates Infrastructure Projects Worth Rs. 5500 Crores in Nathdwara, Rajasthan

Lays foundation stone for redevelopment of Udaipur railway station and gauge conversion project

Nathdwara, Rajasthan – In a significant move to boost infrastructure and connectivity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and dedicated a series of projects worth over Rs. 5500 crores in Nathdwara, Rajasthan. The projects include road construction, railway station redevelopment, gauge conversion, and the inauguration of three national highway projects.

Addressing the gathering at the event, Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to visit the magnificent land of Mewar and Lord Shrinath. Earlier in the day, he performed darshan and puja at the revered Shrinathji Temple in Nathdwara, seeking blessings to achieve the goals of a developed India during the Azaadi Ka Amrit Kaal.

The projects inaugurated and for which the foundation stone was laid are expected to greatly enhance Rajasthan’s connectivity. The six-laning of the Udaipur to Shamlaji section of the National Highway will benefit Udaipur, Dungarpur, and Banswara. The Bilara-Jodhpur Section of NH-25 will facilitate easier access to border areas from Jodhpur, reducing travel time between Jaipur and Jodhpur by three hours. Moreover, world heritage sites like Kumbhalgarh and Haldi Ghati will become more accessible. The new railway line from Shri Nathdwara will connect Mewar with Marwar and boost sectors such as marble, granite, and mining industries.

During his speech, Prime Minister Modi reiterated the government’s commitment to the development of both the nation and the states. Recognizing Rajasthan as one of the largest states in India and the custodian of India’s courage, heritage, and culture, he emphasized that the state’s development is closely intertwined with the overall progress of the country. The central government is particularly focused on enhancing modern infrastructure in Rajasthan, which extends beyond railways and roadways to improve connectivity between villages and cities, boost facilities, and enhance digital connectivity, ultimately improving the lives of the people. Prime Minister Modi stressed that modern infrastructure not only preserves the heritage of the land but also fuels development and contributes to the vision of a developed India in the next 25 years.

Highlighting the government’s significant investments in various infrastructure sectors, the Prime Minister mentioned the provision of 10 lakh crore rupees in the Budget for infrastructure development. These investments have a direct impact on regional development and job opportunities. He acknowledged the challenges posed by short-term thinking in the past, which neglected the construction of necessary infrastructure and incurred great costs to the country. The Prime Minister urged a shift in focus from vote politics to long-term planning for the country’s future.

PM Modi also underscored the importance of railways in the lives of citizens and outlined plans for modernizing the rail network through measures such as modern trains, stations, and tracks. Rajasthan has already received its first Vande Bharat train, and gauge change and broad gauging projects have been fulfilled in the Mavli Marwar section and the Ahmedabad-Udaipur route. The Prime Minister mentioned the government’s objective of electrifying the entire rail network and modernizing railway stations to increase visitor handling capacity. Additionally, a dedicated freight corridor is being constructed to facilitate freight trains. He highlighted the remarkable increase in the railway budget for Rajasthan and expressed confidence that the state would achieve 100 percent rail electrification soon.
