PM Modi Urges Massive Voter Turnout: Empowering Every Voice in Lok Sabha Polls
As the 2024 Elections Kick Off, India's Democratic Spirit Takes Center Stage
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon the citizens, especially the youth and first-time voters, to actively participate in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, emphasizing the significance of each vote. As the first phase of polling commenced across 102 constituencies in 21 states and Union Territories, PM Modi’s message resonated in six languages, urging voters to exercise their democratic right.
“The 2024 Lok Sabha elections commence today! As 102 seats across 21 states and UTs go to the polls, I urge all those voting in these seats to exercise their franchise in record numbers. I particularly call upon the young and first-time voters to vote in large numbers. After all, every vote counts and every voice matters!” tweeted PM Modi.
This phase witnesses polling in key states like Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Assam, and West Bengal, alongside smaller constituencies. Notably, simultaneous assembly elections are taking place in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim.
The importance of this electoral exercise is underscored by the staggering number of eligible voters, standing at over 16.63 crore. Among them, 35.67 lakh are first-time voters, while 3.51 crore belong to the youth demographic, aged between 20 to 29 years. The diversity of the electorate reflects the essence of India’s democratic fabric.
While the BJP-led NDA seeks to secure a historic third consecutive term under PM Modi’s leadership, the Opposition, united under the INDIA alliance, is poised to challenge the ruling coalition. As citizens cast their ballots, the outcome of these elections will profoundly shape the nation’s political landscape, signaling either continuity or change in governance.
PM Modi’s call for robust voter turnout underscores the essence of democracy, where every citizen’s participation holds the power to shape the nation’s future. With polling underway, the nation awaits the verdict of its people, marking another chapter in India’s democratic journey.
