Op Zurhama: Indian Army and J&K Police Bust Narco Smuggling Module

Srinagar, May 13, 2023 – In a significant achievement against an interstate narco-terror smuggling syndicate originating from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), the Indian Army, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, apprehended four smugglers involved in running the illicit network. Acting on credible intelligence regarding a narco smuggler from Punjab who had arrived in the district to receive a consignment of narcotics, a joint search operation was launched in the Zurhama area of the Trehgam Police Station on May 12, 2023, at 6:30 PM.

During the operation, four individuals, including a non-local, were arrested while they were in the process of exchanging approximately 8 kilograms of smuggled narcotics along with a sum of five lakhs in Indian currency.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the seized narcotics consignment was sent by two terrorist handlers affiliated with Pakistan-based terror outfit, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), operating from PoJK.

This latest development serves as yet another example of the nefarious intentions of Pakistani-based terror groups, aiming to disrupt peace and harmony in the Kashmir Valley. However, the Indian Army and all security forces in Jammu and Kashmir remain resolute in their commitment to thwart any attempts by adversaries to destabilize the region.

The successful operation showcases the collective efforts and strong coordination between the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in combating cross-border smuggling and terrorism. This proactive action not only curtails the inflow of narcotics into the region but also deals a blow to the financing of terrorist activities.

The Indian security forces remain determined to uphold stability and security in the valley, ensuring the safety and well-being of the people. Such operations demonstrate the unwavering resolve to counter any threats posed by anti-national elements and safeguard the interests of the nation and its citizens.

The arrested individuals will be subjected to thorough investigation to gather more intelligence and to identify the network’s masterminds, thus strengthening the ongoing fight against narco-terrorism in the region. The successful busting of this narco-smuggling module sends a stern message to those involved in such illicit activities that their nefarious plans will not go unnoticed and will be met with swift and decisive action.

The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police continue to remain vigilant, working in synergy to ensure the security and prosperity of the region, and to maintain peace and harmony in the Kashmir Valley.
