Northern Railway General Manager Reviews Performance, Prioritizes Mobility Enhancement and Safety Measures

Northern Railway General Manager, Shobhan Chaudhuri, recently conducted a comprehensive review of the railway’s performance, with a particular focus on mobility enhancement works, safety measures, and infrastructure development. In a meeting attended by departmental heads of Northern Railway and Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs), the discussions centered around strategies to improve freight loading and ensure punctual train operations.

Maintaining an impressive record of punctuality, Northern Railway continues to prioritize the timely running of trains. During the review, the General Manager emphasized the importance of efficient goods train movement, particularly the transportation of coal to thermal power stations. This initiative aims to meet the rising demand for coal during the peak summer season, supporting power generation requirements.

While ensuring safety remains a top priority, Northern Railway’s primary focus lies in enhancing mobility across the railway network. The General Manager assessed the progress made in enhancing track maintenance standards, including the removal of scrap near tracks and improvements in welds. He urged the divisions to expedite mobility enhancement works and conduct regular inspections to monitor progress. Emphasizing the importance of safety during train operations, he stressed the need to address any obstacles promptly.

Shobhan Chaudhuri also highlighted the significance of counseling and training for staff whenever necessary. Rigorous monitoring of rail fractures and welds was advised to eliminate errors. The General Manager emphasized the importance of minimizing human errors in train operations. Additionally, he instructed department heads and DRMs to maintain punctuality while prioritizing safe freight loading. The General Manager also assessed the progress of critical and noteworthy projects.
