Northern Railway Celebrates 68th Railway Week: Honoring Excellence and Achievements
Today marks a significant milestone for Northern Railway as it celebrates its 68th Railway Week, commemorating the historic running of the first train in India between Bori-bunder and Thane. The Awards Distribution Ceremony, held at the National Rail Museum in Chankyapuri, New Delhi, saw the felicitation of 100 railway employees for their outstanding contributions to the sector.
Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager of Northern Railway, presided over the ceremony, recognizing and lauding the dedication and hard work of railway personnel. Among the accolades, Delhi Division was declared the Best overall performer across all fields, while Ambala Division was honored with the General Manager’s Excellence Shield.
In his address, General Manager Chaudhuri highlighted the remarkable achievements of Northern Railway in various operational areas. Notable milestones include the unprecedented growth in infrastructure and services, with significant contributions to cargo loading and passenger services. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dedication of the first phase of the renovated Ayodhya Dham Railway station was a proud moment for the zone.
Northern Railway’s commitment to innovation and progress is evident in its initiatives such as the “One Station, One Product” scheme and the conversion of diesel trains to electric traction, resulting in substantial savings and efficiency improvements. Work is underway to enhance train speeds on key routes and develop modern cargo terminals.
