Nitin Gadkari Inspects Faridabad Bypass and DND Sohna Highway Construction Sites

Today, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, undertook a comprehensive inspection of the Faridabad Bypass Site and the ongoing construction of Package 1 & 2 of the DND Sohna Highway on National Highway-148 NA, including the spur of the Delhi Mumbai Expressway. This significant infrastructure endeavor, part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana, stretches across 33 kilometers with a staggering cost of Rs 3565 Crore, operating under the Hybrid Annuity Mode.

The project holds substantial importance as it seamlessly integrates various major highways, including the Direct Noida Delhi flyways, Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway, NH-2 (Delhi-Agra), Delhi Mumbai Expressway, and the Jewar airport connectivity highway.

Comprising a 6-lane access-controlled highway with 3-lane service roads on both sides within the brownfield stretch, the urban development initiative incorporates 8 elevated sections spanning a total length of 12.034 kilometers. Additionally, the project includes 10 flyovers, 6 VUPs, 11 LVUPs, 13 Minor Bridges, 1 ROB, 1 RUB, 6 Bus Bays, and 102 box culverts.

Notably, the project spans over the Metro Line at 4 locations, reaching a maximum height of about 27 meters. Innovative features such as vertical gardening on piers have been incorporated for aesthetic, physiological, economical, and environmental benefits. Furthermore, a noise barrier along elevated sections aims to mitigate noise pollution.

In a commendable environmental initiative, approximately 10 hectares of barren land, previously utilized for fly ash dumping, will be transformed through plantation efforts. This initiative aligns with the jungle safari project initiated by the Delhi government, showcasing a commitment to sustainable development and environmental conservation.

Nitin Gadkari’s visit underscores the government’s dedication to enhancing infrastructure and connectivity, fostering economic growth, and promoting sustainable development across the region.
