New Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioners Take Office
In a significant development, Heeralal Samariya assumed office as the Chief Information Commissioner at the Central Information Commission today. The formal swearing-in ceremony took place at the Central Information Commission, where Samariya administered the oath of office to the newly appointed Information Commissioners, Anandi Ramalingam and Vinod Kumar Tiwari.
Anandi Ramalingam, who has taken on her role as an Information Commissioner, previously served as the Chairman & Managing Director of Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Ministry of Defence, Government of India). She brings to her position extensive experience, holding a Bachelor’s degree with Honors in Electronics & Communication Engineering. Her background includes expertise in procurement, conceptualization, design, development, and production of equipment, as well as dealing with technical matters, coordination with various authorities, and matters related to the Right to Information Act. Her domain of specialization encompasses Administration and Governance.
Vinod Kumar Tiwari, an Indian Forest Service Officer, now serves as an Information Commissioner at the Central Information Commission. Prior to this role, he held the position of Head of Force-cum-Principal Chief Conservator of Forests for the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department in Shimla. Mr. Tiwari possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Science and a Master’s degree in Geology. His areas of expertise lie in Administration and Governance.
The assumption of office by the Chief Information Commissioner and these two Information Commissioners marks a new chapter in the functioning of the Central Information Commission, promising enhanced transparency and governance in the administration of crucial information and data.
