Ministry of Railways Increases ALP Vacancies to 18,799 Across Various Zonal Railways from Initial 5,696

In a significant development, the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, has announced an enhancement in vacancies for Assistant Loco Pilots (ALPs) across various Zonal Railways. The decision comes in response to additional demands received from the Zonal Railways subsequent to the initial notification.

Initially, a total of 5,696 vacancies for ALPs were notified through CEN No. 01/2024. Following the revised demands, the Railway Board has approved an increase in these vacancies to a total of 18,799 across the following Zonal Railways:

  • Central Railway: From 535 to 1,783 vacancies
  • East Central Railway: 76 vacancies
  • East Coast Railway: From 479 to 1,595 vacancies
  • Eastern Railway: From 415 to 1,382 vacancies
  • North Central Railway: From 241 to 802 vacancies
  • North Eastern Railway: From 43 to 143 vacancies
  • Northeast Frontier Railway: From 129 to 428 vacancies
  • Northern Railway: From 150 to 499 vacancies
  • North Western Railway: From 228 to 761 vacancies
  • South Central Railway: From 585 to 1,949 vacancies
  • South East Central Railway: From 1,192 to 3,973 vacancies
  • South Eastern Railway: From 300 to 1,001 vacancies
  • Southern Railway: From 218 to 726 vacancies
  • South Western Railway: From 473 to 1,576 vacancies
  • West Central Railway: From 219 to 729 vacancies
  • Western Railway: From 413 to 1,376 vacancies

The Railway Board has instructed immediate action by the Zonal Railways to process the revised indent for these enhanced vacancies through OIRMS, in consultation with RRB/Bangalore. This action must be completed within one week from the date of issuance of the directive.

Furthermore, existing candidates will be given the opportunity to revise their choice of Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) considering the changes in the number of vacancies.

This decision aims to meet the growing demand for skilled personnel in the railway sector and underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing employment opportunities across the country.
