Major Progress in Wardha-Ballarshah New 3rd Line Project Enhances Rail Connectivity

In a noteworthy development, the Wardha-Ballarshah New 3rd Line project has seen significant advancements, showcasing its impact on the rail infrastructure in the region. Here are the key details:

  • Project Cost: The project has been estimated at ₹1384.72 Crores, with an expenditure of ₹833.49 Crores till date.
  • Physical Progress: Overall progress stands at an impressive 67%.
  • Total Length: The new 3rd line spans a total length of 132.34 km, with 29.35 km already commissioned.
  • Land Acquisition: A substantial 70% of the land acquisition process has been completed, covering 125.52 out of 136.44 hectares.

A) Completed Sections (25.18%):

  • Wardha to Hinganghat (33.33 km)

B) Near Completion Sections (36.25%):

  • Hinganghat to Chikni Road (47.98 km)
  • Majri to Tadali

C) Sections in Progress (38.57%):

  • Chikni Road to Majri (51.03 km)
  • Tadali to Ballarshah

Ongoing Works:

  • Earthwork: 58.73% completed (15.16/25.81 Lcum)
  • Blanketing: 30.76% completed (60,000/195,000 Cum)
  • Important Bridges: 50% completed (1/2)
  • Major Bridges: 6 out of 12 in progress
  • Minor Bridges/LHS/RUB: 14.68% completed (21/146)
  • Station Buildings: 26.30% completed (5/19)
  • Track Linking: 22.18% completed (30/132 Tkm)
  • Overhead Equipment (OHE) Foundations: 22% completed (620/2904)
  • OHE Mast Erections: 14% completed (368/2640)
  • OHE Wiring: 11% completed (15/132 km)
  • Signalling and Telecommunication Works: 16% completed (3/18)

Project Impact: The completion of this new 3rd line will significantly alleviate congestion on the busy Secunderabad-Wardha-Nagpur route, enhancing overall train mobility in the region.
