Major Milestone Achieved: Pune–Miraj Doubling Project Reaches 84% Overall Physical Progress
The Pune–Miraj Doubling Project, spanning a length of 279.05 kilometers, has reached a significant milestone with an overall physical progress of 84%. The project, aimed at enhancing rail connectivity and reducing congestion, boasts a total cost of ₹4872.53 crore, with ₹3320.62 crore expended to date.
The completed doubling stands at 66.25%, covering 184.88 kilometers, and includes the following sections:
- Pune–Shindawane: 31.67 km
- Ambale–Wathar: 78.2 km
- Jarandeshwar–Palsi: 8.95 km
- Satara–Koregaon: 10.9 km
- Shenoli–Sangli: 55.16 km
Sections near completion make up 22.77%, totaling 63.55 kilometers, encompassing:
- Wathar–Palsi: 9.39 km
- Jarandeshwar–Satara: 7.57 km
- Targaon–Shenoli: 39.41 km
- Sangli–Miraj: 7.18 km
An additional 30.57 kilometers, constituting 10.9%, are in progress:
- Shindawane–Ambale: 9.45 km
- Koregaon–Targaon: 21.12 km
Land acquisition has achieved 84.41%, covering 97.87 out of 115.93 hectares. Various completed works, including earthwork (88%), blanketing (48%), important bridges (100%), major bridges (77%), and minor bridges/LHS/RUB (78%), showcase the project’s comprehensive development.
Tunneling work has reached 87%, with 475 out of 545 meters completed. Electrification is at 54%, track linking at 86%, and new signaling electronic interlocking at 69%. Station building completion stands at an impressive 91%, while track km linking is at 86%. Signal-related works are underway, with 34% completion for signaling indoor and outdoor works.
Upon completion, the Pune–Miraj Doubling Project is anticipated to significantly enhance train mobility and alleviate congestion in the region, marking a vital step forward in the development of rail infrastructure.
