Major Milestone Achieved: Agartala – Anand Vihar Tejas Rajdhani Express Now Halts at Malda Town

In a significant leap forward for West Bengal’s railway infrastructure, the long-standing demand of Malda’s residents has been fulfilled with the introduction of a stoppage for the 20501 Agartala – Anand Vihar Tejas Rajdhani Express at Malda Town station.

Effective from January 15, 2024, the 20501/20502 Agartala – Anand Vihar (T) Tejas Rajdhani weekly Express has been rerouted to include stops at Malda Town, Bhagalpur, and Jamalpur. The inaugural run from Agartala on this new route commenced on January 15, marking a momentous occasion for the residents of Malda.

The flagged-off ceremony from Malda Town station was graced by the presence of Khagen Murmu, MP, Srirupa Mitra Chowdhury, MLA, and Gopal Chandra Saha, MLA, on the first day of the train’s operation via Malda Town.

The altered route not only improves connectivity but also incorporates commercial stoppages at vital stations like Malda Town, Bhagalpur, Jamalpur, and Patna in both directions. The train, with state-of-the-art LHB rake, including 1st AC, 2nd AC, and 3rd AC accommodations, offers a total capacity of 972 berths.

For residents of Malda Town, this development opens up new travel options and ensures enhanced accessibility. The Tejas Rajdhani Express will now be a weekly feature departing from Agartala at 15:10 hrs, arriving at Malda Town at 15:00 hrs on the next day. The return journey from Anand Vihar will take place at 19:50 hrs on Wednesdays, reaching Agartala at 15:40 hrs on Fridays.

Enroute, the train will make stops at Ambassa, Dharmanagar, New Karimganj, Badarpur, Hojai, Guwahati, Rangia, Barpeta Road, New Jalpaiguri, Malda Town, Bhagalpur, Jamalpur, Patna, Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Jn & Kanpur Central stations, benefiting passengers across the route.

This move reflects the commitment of the Indian Railways to strengthen regional connectivity, prioritizing the well-being and convenience of passengers while meeting the longstanding demand of the people in the region.
