Landmark Legislative Reforms Spearheaded by PM Modi Redefine India’s Legal Landscape

In a historic move, the Indian Parliament has passed three crucial bills, namely the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023, heralding a new era of legal reforms. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his enthusiasm, terming it a watershed moment in India’s history.

These transformative bills signal the end of colonial-era laws, ushering in a legal framework centered on public service and welfare. The Prime Minister emphasized the bills’ commitment to enhancing protection for the poor, marginalized, and vulnerable sections of society. Moreover, they demonstrate a firm stance against organized crime, terrorism, and offenses detrimental to India’s progress.

The legislative reforms also bid farewell to outdated sections on sedition, aligning the legal system with modern principles and technologies. PM Modi commended the bills for bringing India’s legal, policing, and investigative systems into the contemporary era, emphasizing technology and forensic science.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah played a crucial role in explaining the intricacies of these bills in the Rajya Sabha, as shared by PM Modi in a video. The new legal reforms aim to make India’s legal framework more relevant, empathetic, and attuned to the needs of the nation in the Amrit Kaal. The passage of these bills signifies India’s steadfast commitment to reform and progress.
