KVIC Distributes Machinery and Toolkits on Sri Ram Mahotsav

On the momentous occasion of the consecration ceremony of Lord Rama in Ayodhya, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, organized a special program in Jhumpa village, Haryana, under the Sri Ram Mahotsav, Khadi Samvad, and Village Industries Development Scheme.

Chief Guest Biplab Kumar Deb, MP Rajya Sabha, along with KVIC Chairman, Manoj Kumar, distributed machinery and toolkits to artisans. A large LED screen broadcasted the live telecast of the consecration ceremony, allowing thousands of artisans and locals to witness the auspicious event. In total, 120 electrically operated chalks, 350 B-boxes, and 115 toolkits were distributed as part of the Village Industries Development Scheme.

Addressing the gathering, Biplab Kumar Deb commended KVIC’s work under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, emphasizing the commission’s contribution to rural empowerment. He acknowledged KVIC’s effort in reinforcing the spirit of self-reliance and a developed India by distributing special toolkits for artisans. Jai Prakash Dalal, Cabinet Minister of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare, and Animal Husbandry, Haryana Government, highlighted the significant work done by the ‘double engine’ government in Haryana for farmer welfare.

Manoj Kumar, Chairman of KVIC, expressed the historical significance of the day, celebrating the consecration of Lord Sri Ram at Ayodhya after 500 years. He reminisced about his involvement as a volunteer in the Ram Mandir movement in 1992 and stated that the consecration marked the fulfillment of a longstanding wish for every KarSevak. He credited the success of KVIC to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and highlighted the commission’s role in promoting Khadi and supporting the economic well-being of artisans.

Under the Modi government, KVIC has played a pivotal role in reviving Khadi’s glory. Kumar shared remarkable achievements, including the business of Khadi and village industry products surpassing Rs 1.34 lakh crore in the last 9 years. Khadi textile production increased from Rs 880 crore to Rs 3000 crore, and sales of Khadi products rose from Rs 1170 crore to Rs 6000 crore. Notably, during Khadi Mahotsav, sales of Rs 1.5 crore were made in a day at the Connaught Place showroom, and Rs 25 crore were sold in a month at Khadi Bhandar.

The event symbolized the convergence of cultural and economic celebrations, showcasing the commitment to a self-reliant and developed India.
