New Delhi, September 14, 2023 – A cohort of 255 Indian Railways probationers from the 2018 batch had the privilege of meeting with India’s President, Droupadi Murmu, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre today. During this momentous gathering, President Murmu delivered a motivational address, emphasizing the critical role of Indian Railways in the nation’s economic and social fabric. She challenged the young officers to drive technological innovation in the railway sector, with a focus on eco-friendly and passenger-centric transportation systems.

President Murmu commenced her address by acknowledging the probationers’ commitment and determination in securing positions within various Indian Railways services. She underscored the significance of their roles within an organization that not only transports millions of passengers daily but also fuels the dreams and aspirations of millions across India.

In her passionate speech, President Murmu highlighted the pivotal role of technology in contemporary society, noting that Indian Railways must harness it to its fullest potential. She commended Indian Railways for its innovative and adaptive approach in areas such as railway electrification, increased freight handling, and the development of indigenous semi-high-speed trains.

The President also praised Indian Railways’ collaborative efforts with other organizations, resulting in a seamless end-to-end service for customers. She specifically mentioned the establishment of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, a pioneering central university focusing on transport and logistics sectors.
