Indian Railways’ Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) Vadodara Forges Strategic Partnerships with Industry Giants
In a significant leap towards fostering collaboration between academia and industry, Indian Railways’ Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) Vadodara has inked Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Nokia, Plasser India, and Jacobs. The signing ceremony, held at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi, witnessed the participation of esteemed dignitaries including Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics, and IT, who also serves as the First Chancellor of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya.
Expressing his delight, Ashwini Vaishnaw remarked, “I am glad that GSV is emerging as an institution at par with IITs in the country in such a short time. Today three MoUs are being signed. It is an important milestone.”
Under the MoU with Nokia, emphasis will be laid on collaborative research in the realm of 5G/6G communications, targeting transportation use cases. This includes standards development, smart factory automation, AI labs, and leveraging digital twins and Nokia’s “Network as Code” platform for transportation and logistics sectors.
The collaboration with Plasser India aims to advance track technology, promote industry experience and training, explore joint research opportunities, and provide internship and placement avenues for GSV students.
Meanwhile, the MoU with Jacobs seeks to propel research, teaching, and training activities related to the transport, rail, and semiconductor sectors. This involves establishing centers of excellence in semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, and railways, including laboratory development.
These strategic alliances come at a pivotal time, aligning with the burgeoning growth in the transportation, logistics, telecommunication, and semiconductor sectors in India. The MoUs are anticipated to generate substantial employment opportunities by nurturing skilled manpower.
GSV, envisioned as an industry-driven and innovation-led university, boasts an array of collaborations with leading institutions and industries worldwide. Notable partnerships include those with Airbus, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Nippon Koei, Siemens DPIIT, and more.
Established through an Act of Parliament in 2022, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) Vadodara is dedicated to nurturing top-tier talent for the transportation and logistics sectors, thus contributing significantly to India’s socio-economic development.
