Indian Railways Announces Special Trains for Winter/Christmas 2024 to Manage Extra Passenger Rush

In a bid to accommodate the surge in passengers during the Winter and Christmas holidays, Indian Railways has announced the operation of several special trains. These trains will run between key destinations to ensure a smooth travel experience for commuters during the festive season. The details of the special trains are as follows:

1) Mumbai CSMT – Karmali – Mumbai CSMT Special (Daily)

  • Train No. 01151: Mumbai CSMT to Karmali (Daily)
    • Departure: 00:20 hrs from Mumbai CSMT, from 20/12/2024 to 05/01/2025.
    • Arrival: 13:30 hrs at Karmali on the same day.
  • Train No. 01152: Karmali to Mumbai CSMT (Daily)
    • Departure: 14:15 hrs from Karmali, from 20/12/2024 to 05/01/2025.
    • Arrival: 03:45 hrs at Mumbai CSMT on the next day.

Halts: The train will make stops at Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Pen, Roha, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Kudal, and Thivim stations.

Composition: A total of 22 coaches including 1 First AC, 1 Composite (First AC + 2 Tier AC), 3 Two-Tier AC, 11 Three-Tier AC, 2 Sleeper, 2 General, and 2 SLR coaches.

2) Lokmanya Tilak (T) – Kochuveli – Lokmanya Tilak (T) Special (Weekly)

  • Train No. 01463: Lokmanya Tilak (T) to Kochuveli (Weekly)
    • Departure: 16:00 hrs on Thursdays, on 19/12/2024, 26/12/2024, 02/01/2025, and 09/01/2025.
    • Arrival: 22:45 hrs at Kochuveli on the following day.
  • Train No. 01464: Kochuveli to Lokmanya Tilak (T) (Weekly)
    • Departure: 16:20 hrs on Saturdays, on 21/12/2024, 28/12/2024, 04/01/2025, and 11/01/2025.
    • Arrival: 00:45 hrs at Lokmanya Tilak (T) on the third day.

Halts: The train will stop at multiple stations including Thane, Panvel, Roha, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Kudal, Thivim, Karmali, Madgaon Jn., Karwar, Gokarna Road, Mangaluru Jn., Kannur, Calicut, Thrissur, Ernakulam, and many more.

Composition: A total of 22 LHB coaches, including 2 Two-Tier AC, 6 Three-Tier AC, 9 Sleeper, 3 General, 1 Generator Car, and 1 SLR coach.

3) Pune Jn. – Karmali – Pune Jn. Special (Weekly)

  • Train No. 01407: Pune Jn. to Karmali (Weekly)
    • Departure: 05:10 hrs from Pune Jn. on Wednesdays, on 25/12/2024, 01/01/2025, and 08/01/2025.
    • Arrival: 20:25 hrs at Karmali on the same day.
  • Train No. 01408: Karmali to Pune Jn. (Weekly)
    • Departure: 22:00 hrs from Karmali on Wednesdays, on 25/12/2024, 01/01/2025, and 08/01/2025.
    • Arrival: 13:00 hrs at Pune Jn. on the next day.

Halts: The train will halt at Chinchvad, Talegaon, Lonavala, Kalyan, Panvel, Pen, Roha, Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Kudal, Sawantwadi Road, and Thivim.

Composition: A total of 17 coaches, including 1 First AC, 1 Two-Tier AC, 2 Three-Tier AC, 5 Sleeper, 6 General, and 2 SLR coaches.

Ticket Bookings:

Bookings for all the above trains (Train Nos. 01152 and 01408) will open on 14/12/2024 at all Passenger Reservation Systems (PRS), the Indian Railways website, and the IRCTC app.
