Indian Air Force Swiftly Resumes Relief Operations in Flood-Hit Sikkim
In a swift response to the devastating floods that have wreaked havoc in Sikkim, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has once again resumed its critical relief operations. Operating from the Air Force Station Bagdogra, Eastern Air Command, the IAF has intensified its efforts to provide vital assistance to the flood-affected population.
Earlier today, a Chinook Helicopter, fully loaded with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel, Search & Rescue equipment, fuel, medicine, and essential supplies for the Indian Army, successfully reached the flood-ravaged region of Sikkim. This strategic deployment serves as a testament to the IAF’s unwavering commitment to offering comprehensive support during times of crisis.
The IAF’s fleet of air assets was deployed strategically, with the primary objectives of relocating stranded tourists to safer areas and ensuring the efficient distribution of crucial supplies across the state. As weather conditions improved at 0800 hours, the IAF executed a remarkably efficient evacuation operation, swiftly moving 217 tourists to secure locations within a mere five-hour timeframe.
The relief efforts extended beyond evacuations, encompassing the transportation of a substantial 5-ton cargo of critical supplies. These provisions have been earmarked for the Indian Army, NDRF, and the State Government, showcasing the IAF’s multi-faceted approach to disaster relief.
The Indian Air Force continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to serving and protecting the affected communities, embodying resilience, efficiency, and a deep dedication to the well-being of the people of Sikkim during this challenging period.
