India Expresses Deep Concern Over Anti-India Activities During PM Modi’s Meeting with PM Trudeau
New Delhi, September 10, 2023 – During a bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in New Delhi, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed India’s deep concerns regarding the ongoing anti-India activities involving extremist elements within Canada to his Canadian counterpart, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Prime Minister Trudeau took the opportunity to extend his congratulations to Prime Minister Modi on the success of India’s G20 Presidency, acknowledging the significant role India played during its tenure.

However, he expressed serious apprehension about the continuous promotion of secessionism and incitement of violence against Indian diplomats by extremist groups in Canada. These activities have resulted in damage to diplomatic premises and posed threats to the Indian community in Canada, including their places of worship.
Prime Minister Modi drew attention to the concerning nexus between these extremist forces and organized crime, drug syndicates, and human trafficking, urging Canada to recognize these threats and work in close cooperation with India to address these shared security concerns.
In conclusion, Prime Minister Modi stressed the significance of nurturing a relationship built upon mutual respect and trust, emphasizing its pivotal role in advancing the India-Canada partnership.
