Improvements in Train Operations for Gorakhpur Cantt Yard Remodeling and Commissioning of Gorakhpur Cantt-Kusumhi Third Line

Hajipur, August 9, 2023: A series of train cancellations, route changes, and rescheduling have been implemented by the railway administration under the Northeast Frontier Railway’s (NFR) operational endeavor, named ‘Operation Punctuality,’ aimed at enhancing passenger convenience and operational efficiency in Gorakhpur Cantt Yard remodeling and commissioning of the Gorakhpur Cantt-Kusumhi third line.

As part of this sequence, the decision to cancel five trains due to technical reasons has been taken. Details of these canceled trains are as follows:

Canceled Trains:

1. Train No. 14674, Amritsar-Jayanagar Express: Canceled on August 13, 15, 17, 18, 20, 22, 24, 25, 27, and 29, 2023, departing from Amritsar.
2. Train No. 14673, Jayanagar-Amritsar Express: Canceled on August 14, 16, 17, 19, 21, 23, 24, 26, 28, and 30, 2023, departing from Jayanagar.
3. Train No. 14649, Jayanagar-Amritsar Express: Canceled on August 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, and 29, 2023, departing from Jayanagar.
4. Train No. 14650, Amritsar-Jayanagar Express: Canceled on August 14, 16, 19, 21, 23, 26, 28, and 30, 2023, departing from Amritsar.
5. Train No. 15652, Jammu Tawi-Guwahati Express: Canceled on August 16, 23, and 30, 2023, departing from Jammu Tawi. Revised to depart on August 18, 25, and September 1, 2023.

Additionally, four trains have been rescheduled as follows:

Rescheduled Trains:

1. Train No. 15078, Gomtinagar-Kamakhya Express: Rescheduled by 60 minutes on August 14, 2023, and by 135 minutes on August 21, 2023, departing from Gomtinagar.
2. Train No. 15052, Gorakhpur-Shalimar Express: Rescheduled by 90 minutes on August 14, 2023, by 135 minutes on August 21, 2023, and by 180 minutes on August 28, 2023, departing from Gorakhpur.
3. Train No. 19038, Barauni-Bandra Express: Rescheduled from August 20, 2023, to August 21, 2023, departing from Barauni, with a delay of 240 minutes.
4. Train No. 12557, Muzaffarpur-Anand Vihar Express: Rescheduled from August 20, 2023, to August 21, 2023, departing from Muzaffarpur, with a delay of 120 minutes.

It is noteworthy that following the remodeling of Gorakhpur Cantt Yard, it will be developed as a satellite station with increased line and platform capacity. This will enable smoother operations and facilitate train movement. The commissioning of the third line will further enhance line capacity, leading to increased train movement and improved punctuality.
