Nirmala Sitharaman Takes Charge as Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs

New Delhi: In a significant development, Nirmala Sitharaman assumed office today as the Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring the ‘Ease of Living’ for its citizens.

Upon her arrival at the office located in North Block, Sitharaman received a warm welcome from Finance Secretary Dr. T.V. Somanathan and other Secretaries of the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Affairs.

Expressing her gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for entrusting her with this responsibility once again, Sitharaman pledged to serve India and its people under his guidance.

Acknowledging the transformative changes driven by strong leadership and development-oriented governance in the last decade, Sitharaman emphasized the creation of a robust and resilient economy across various sectors.

Following her assumption of charge, Sitharaman was briefed on ongoing policy issues by the Secretaries of different departments under the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Affairs.

She reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring ‘Ease of Living’ and affirmed that reforms initiated since 2014 will continue to provide macroeconomic stability and growth for India. Despite global challenges, Sitharaman highlighted India’s commendable growth story and expressed optimism regarding the economic outlook for the coming years.

Urging departments to advance the development agenda with renewed vigor, Sitharaman emphasized the Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ and called for continued support and cooperation from all stakeholders, including industry leaders, regulators, and citizens, to foster a strong and vibrant economy.

The government’s ethos of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ was reiterated by the Union Finance Minister, underscoring the collective effort required to ensure inclusive growth and prosperity for all.
