Government of India Honors All India Railway Men’s Federation (AIRF) with Commemorative Postage Stamp on Centenary Celebration

The Government of India has honored the All India Railway Men’s Federation (AIRF) by issuing a commemorative postage stamp, recognizing its remarkable century-long journey. Founded on 24 April 1924, AIRF, the oldest and most influential organization in the railway sector, is on the brink of completing 100 years of dedicated service.

In a significant tribute, the Government of India unveiled the centenary year commemorative postage stamp during a prestigious ceremony held today at the Karnail Singh Railway Stadium. The event witnessed the presence of over 5 thousand railway employees, along with esteemed dignitaries from the Railway Ministry, Indian Postal, and Northern Railway.

This historic occasion marks the first instance in the nation’s history where a labor organization has been commemorated with a postage stamp in its centenary year, underscoring the vital role of AIRF in advocating for the rights and welfare of railway workers.

Addressing the audience, Chief Guest Ashwani Vaishnaw highlighted the rich historical background of AIRF, emphasizing its significant contributions to both national and international trade union movements. He praised the organization for its unwavering commitment to the social and economic well-being of railway employees and its efforts to ensure the safety and convenience of the railway industry.

During the ceremony, General Secretary of AIRF, Shiva Gopal Mishra, provided insights into the federation’s extensive contributions across social, economic, and cultural domains, benefiting railway employees and their families. He recounted AIRF’s pivotal role in shaping the development narrative of Indian Railways over the past century, highlighting notable achievements such as the expansion of railway routes, the introduction of Vande Bharat Express Trains, and the construction of Amrit Bharat coaches.

The event was graced by the presence of eminent personalities including Dr. N. Kanniah, President of AIRF, Dr. M. Raghavaiah, General Secretary of NFIR, Mrs. Jaya Verma Sinha, Chairman and CEO of Railway Board, Ms. Smita Kumar, Director General of Indian Postal, Mr. Naveen Gulati, Director General (HR) of Railway Board, and other distinguished officials. Their participation underscored the significance of AIRF’s centenary milestone and its enduring legacy in India’s railway sector.
