Five States Prepare for Assembly Polls: Election Dates and Key Details Unveiled

In an eagerly awaited announcement, the Chief Election Commissioner, Rajiv Kumar, unveiled the crucial dates and details for the upcoming Assembly polls in five states—Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan, and Telangana. These elections are set to play a pivotal role not only for the respective states but also for the entire nation.

Chhattisgarh:

  • Voting will take place in two phases, on November 7 and November 17.
  • The state boasts a significant 2.03 crore eligible voters.

Madhya Pradesh:

  • The election is scheduled for November 17.
  • Madhya Pradesh is home to a staggering 5.6 crore voters.

Mizoram:

  • The Mizoram election is slated for November 7.
  • The state has 8.52 lakh registered voters.

Rajasthan:

  • Rajasthan’s election will occur in a single phase on November 23.
  • The state boasts 5.2 crore eligible voters.

Telangana:

  • Telangana will be the last state to go to the polls, with elections on November 30.
  • The state has a total of 3.17 crore voters.

Collectively, these five states will witness a grand total of 8.2 crore male and 7.8 crore female voters exercising their democratic rights.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar emphasized the significance of these elections during an Election Commission press conference, highlighting that anyone can report inducement through cVIGIL. Additionally, candidates with criminal backgrounds are mandated to make their criminal history public by announcing it in newspapers thrice.

Moreover, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar assured the public that the Election Commission is taking stringent measures to ensure fair and transparent elections. With over 940 inter-state border check posts across the five states, authorities will actively monitor and curtail any cross-border movement of illicit cash, liquor, freebies, and drugs.
