ECoR Achieves Breakthrough Connecting Escape Tunnel with Longest Tunnel in Khurda Road-Balangir Rail Line Project

In a significant advancement, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has achieved a milestone in the Khurda Road-Balangir Rail Line Project by successfully connecting a 700-meter escape tunnel with the 4185-meter longest tunnel in the Adhenigarh-Charichhak Section. This breakthrough, accomplished under the deep reserve forest of Madhapur Forest Range, marks a crucial phase in enhancing connectivity through remote regions of Boudh District.

The Khurda Road-Balangir Rail Link Project, spanning 301 kilometers, is a pivotal infrastructure initiative aimed at boosting connectivity across Odisha. Currently, 152.805 kilometers of the project have been commissioned, with intensive efforts underway to expedite completion.

The railway authorities have prioritized the early completion of ongoing projects, including the Khurda Road-Balangir line. Construction efforts are being meticulously executed from both Khurda Road and Balangir ends to expedite the project’s timeline.

• Completed Sections: As of now, 105.8 kilometers from Khurda Road to Daspalla and 47 kilometers from Balangir to Sonepur have been successfully commissioned.
• Upcoming Completion: The segment from Sonepur to Jharmunda, covering 28.765 kilometers, has also been completed. Furthermore, the stretch from Sonepur to Purunakatak, totaling 73 kilometers, is slated for completion in the coming months.
