Dr Amit Balani First Indian Railway Officer Bags Gold Medal in National Masters Championship
Dr Amit Ballani stood first on the podium after winning the 3000 meters steeplechase event in which 28 hurdles and 5 water jumps have to be cleared
Ashutosh Gangal, General Manager Northern Railway informed that, Dr Amit Balani, Central Services Officer of Indian Railway Health Service, bags Gold in recently concluded inaugural National Masters Championship under the aegis of Athletic Federation of India in Vadodara, Gujrat.
Dr Amit Ballani, working as Sr DMO in Northern Railway Central Hospital New Delhi stood first on the podium after winning the 3000 meters steeplechase event in which 28 hurdles and 5 water jumps have to be cleared. This makes him the first officer in Indian Railways to achieve this feat.
Dr. Amit Balani has been doing the long distance Marathon run events and ultra runs since last 12 years and has recently ventured into short distance competitive events for which the training is entirely different. He has also done half ironman in 2018 which comprises of 1.9 km swim, 90 kms cycling and 21.097 kms run in the same order and that makes him the first medical officer in Indian Railways to achieve this accolade. His achievements and discipline has become an example for his patients and colleagues.
