Derailment Occurs as 6 Coaches of North East Express Derail near Raghunathpur Station, Bihar
In a recent incident on the East Central Railway’s Danapur Division, train number 12506, the North East Express, faced derailment near Raghunathpur station in Buxar, Bihar. The derailment occurred at approximately 21:53 hrs on the Buxar – Ara section.
The train, bound from Anand Vihar Terminal to Kamakhya, had a total load of 23 coaches (LHB). As it was traversing the DN Main line of Raghunathpur station, a total of 6 of its coaches derailed, causing a disruption on the railway line.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties or injuries at this time. Relief efforts were promptly initiated, with the Assistant Divisional Railway Manager’s Train (ART) from Danapur ordered at 21.54 hrs and left the scene at 22.42 hrs. Additionally, the Ambulance Relief Medical Van (ARMV) from Danapur was also ordered at 21.54 hrs and left at 22.30 hrs. A local ambulance arrived at the site at 22.15 hrs.
The process of restoration is currently underway, and the exact cause of the derailment is pending investigation. Railway officials, including the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Senior Divisional Security Officer (DSO), and other concerned officers, are en route to the scene to assess the situation and coordinate response efforts.
Further details regarding the incident and the progress of recovery and restoration are being gathered as the situation develops. In the meantime, a special train has been arranged to transport passengers from Patna to their respective destinations.
