Cyclonic Storm “Hamoon,” pronounced as Hamoon, has been causing concern along the coastal areas of Bangladesh. This powerful weather system has been making its presence felt, steadily moving northeastwards at a speed of 15 kmph during the last six hours.
The India Meteorological Department, a division of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, has been closely monitoring Cyclone “Hamoon” and has issued forecasts regarding its expected trajectory and intensity over the next few hours. According to the latest information, the storm is likely to continue its northeastward movement and gradually weaken.

Warnings:
i) Rainfall Warning:
- Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, and south Assam & Meghalaya: Anticipate light to moderate rainfall at many places with isolated heavy rainfall over Mizoram on 25th October. Light to moderate rainfall is likely in many places over Mizoram and Tripura on 26th October.
- Light to moderate rainfall is very likely at many places over Nagaland, Manipur, and east Arunachal Pradesh on 25th & 26th October.
ii) Wind Warning:
- Northeast Bay of Bengal: Gale wind speeds reaching 60-70 kmph, gusting to 80 kmph, are currently prevailing and expected to gradually decrease, becoming squally with wind speeds reaching 45-55 kmph, gusting to 65 kmph, by 25th noon.
- Northwest Bay of Bengal: Squally wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph, are currently prevailing and expected to continue for the next six hours.
- Adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal: Squally wind speeds reaching 45-55 kmph, gusting to 65 kmph, are currently prevailing and likely to persist for the next six hours.
- Along & off Bangladesh and north Myanmar coasts: Gale wind speeds reaching 60-70 kmph, gusting to 80 kmph, are prevailing along & off Bangladesh and adjoining north Myanmar coast, and they are likely to decrease gradually, becoming squally with wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph, by 25th noon.
- Squally wind speeds reaching 50-60 kmph, gusting to 70 kmph, are likely along & off the remaining parts of the north Myanmar coast during the same period and are expected to decrease thereafter.
- Mizoram, Tripura, south Assam, and Manipur: Squally wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph, gusting to 50 kmph, are likely to prevail over Mizoram and Tripura, with strong wind speeds reaching 25-35 kmph, gusting to 45 kmph, over south Assam & Manipur on 25th October.
iii) Sea Condition:
- Northeast Bay of Bengal and along & off Bangladesh & adjoining north Myanmar coasts: High sea conditions are currently prevailing and likely to continue for the next six hours, becoming very rough to rough thereafter for the subsequent six hours.
- Northwest Bay of Bengal: Rough sea conditions are prevailing and expected to continue for the next six hours.
- Adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal: Very rough to rough sea conditions are prevailing, likely to become rough during the next six hours and improve thereafter.
iv) Fishermen Warning: Fishermen are strongly advised not to venture into:
- Northeast Bay of Bengal and along & off Bangladesh & north Myanmar coasts till 25th October.
- Adjoining areas of northwest Bay of Bengal and east-central Bay of Bengal till 25th October noon.
