Crack Detected in Coach Bogie Prompts Detention of Chennai Egmore Express at Sengottai Railway Station

Staff Recognized and Awarded for Vigilance in Detecting Crack on Chennai Egmore Express

Sengottai, June 5, 2023 – The dedicated staff responsible for detecting the crack in the coach bogie of the T.No:16102 Chennai Egmore Express (Ex. QLN-MS) will be commended and awarded by the Divisional Railway Manager of Madurai Division during today’s safety meeting. Their vigilant watch and prompt action ensured the safety of the passengers on board the train.

The incident occurred on June 4, 2023, at approximately 15:36 hours, as the Chennai Egmore Express was entering Sengottai Railway Station. The attentive C& W staff immediately noticed the crack in the S3 coach (CN SR 11134) as the train arrived at the platform. The Senior Section Engineer (SSE) of the Carriage and Wagon department at Sengottai (SCT) responded swiftly, attending to the affected coach without delay.

To ensure the safety and well-being of the passengers, the staff promptly detached the affected coach and made alternative arrangements to accommodate the passengers in other available coaches. Their quick actions minimized the inconvenience caused by the incident, prioritizing the safety and comfort of the passengers.

Following the necessary arrangements and passenger accommodations, the Chennai Egmore Express was able to resume its journey from Sengottai Railway Station at 16:40 hours, with minimal disruption to the overall schedule.

The Divisional Railway Manager of Madurai Division will express their appreciation and present awards to the vigilant staff during today’s safety meeting. This recognition highlights the importance of their vigilance and proactive approach in ensuring passenger safety.
