Completion of Kharera River Bridge Marks Milestone in Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project
The construction of the Kharera River bridge in Navsari district, Gujarat, has been completed as of October 29, 2024, as part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project. This completion signifies that all nine river bridges between the Vapi and Surat bullet train stations have now been built.
The Kharera River bridge is the 12th of 20 planned river bridges in Gujarat. Here are some of its key features:

- Structure: Comprised of three full-span girders, each measuring 40 meters
- Pier Height: Ranges from 14.5 meters to 19 meters
- Design: Features one circular pier with a diameter of 4 meters and three circular piers with a diameter of 5 meters each
- Location: Positioned between the Vapi and Bilimora bullet train stations, with bridges over the Kolak, Par, Auranga, and Kaveri rivers already completed along this route
- River Information: The Kharera River is a tributary of the Ambika River, originating from the hills of Vansda taluka near the Maharashtra-Gujarat border
- Proximity: Approximately 45 kilometers from Vapi bullet train station and 6 kilometers from Bilimora bullet train station
In total, twelve river bridges have been completed in Gujarat, including:
- Between Vapi and Surat Stations: Kharera (Navsari), Par (Valsad), Purna (Navsari), Mindhola (Navsari), Ambika (Navsari), Auranga (Valsad), Kolak (Valsad), Kaveri (Navsari), and Vengania (Navsari) — totaling nine bridges.
- Other Completed Bridges: Dhadar (Vadodara), Mohar (Kheda), Vatrak (Kheda) — totaling three bridges.
This development is a significant step toward enhancing transportation infrastructure in the region and advancing the bullet train project.
