Commissioner of Railway Safety Initiates Statutory Enquiry into Balasore Derailment

Kolkata, June 4, 2023 – The Commissioner of Railway Safety for the South Eastern Circle has announced the commencement of a statutory enquiry in connection with the recent derailment near Balasore. The enquiry will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023, and Tuesday, June 6, 2023, starting at 09:00 hrs. The venue for the enquiry will be the South Institute in Kharagpur.

The investigation will focus on the derailment of two trains, namely the 12841 Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandal Express and the 12864 SMVT Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, which occurred at Bahanaga Bazar station on June 2, 2023.

In an effort to gather comprehensive information related to the accident case, rail users, local residents, and other concerned entities are encouraged to attend the enquiry and provide their testimony before the commission.
