Vigilant Surveillance Leads to Interception of Suspicious Foreign Passengers
New Delhi, November 20, 2023: In a significant operation, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) successfully intercepted two foreign passengers attempting to smuggle a substantial quantity of medicines valued at approximately INR 25 lakh at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.
At approximately 11:50 am on November 20, 2023, CISF surveillance and intelligence staff, employing behavior detection techniques, observed suspicious activities by two foreign nationals, identified as Akobirkhom Sainabiev and Temirlan Buteshov, both Kyrgyzstan Nationals, in the Check-in area of Terminal-3. The individuals were carrying five large trolley bags, prompting the CISF personnel to divert them to a random checking point for a thorough examination of their belongings.
Upon screening the trolley bags through an X-BIS machine, CISF personnel identified suspicious images within all five bags. Subsequent physical inspection revealed a significant quantity of medicines, specifically Regapen 300 mg capsules, with an estimated value of INR 25 lakh. When questioned, the passengers failed to produce supporting documents for the transportation of such a large quantity of medicines.
The CISF promptly informed senior officers and Customs officials about the discovery. Subsequently, both the passengers, along with the confiscated medicines, were handed over to Customs authorities for further investigation and appropriate legal action. This successful interception underscores the effectiveness of vigilant surveillance at IGI Airport in preventing illicit activities.
